Add a Touch of Country Charm to Your Home

Not ready to convert your entire home to the farmhouse trend? If you love that look but are intimidated by complete change, try bringing in just a touch of country to your home. Not sure exactly how to achieve this look? Consider our tips below to elevate that country chic look without going overboard!

One of the most important elements to tastefully accomplish this design style is to start with soft, muted colors. Choose muted neutrals and earthy tones as opposed to bright hues to create a subdued yet cozy country atmosphere. Often times these elements will show wear of time to promote a rustic feel. With furniture in mind, look for pieces with straight lines and painted finishes.

Looking to put together a country-inspired room a little quicker? Accessories and smaller pieces are a great way to update the character of a room without breaking the bank. Hand-forged metal accents, cozy knits, and wood pieces will take center stage in any space.  Quintessentially incorporate accent pieces with pastoral motif—like wheat in a vase, flowers in watering cans, and wooden serving trays. Let your accessories do the heavy lifting.

Behind every country style, simplicity is at heart. Furniture Row has all your country-inspired pieces. Find a store near you!

Inspiring Kids’ Bedroom Ideas

It’s almost time to head back to school and designing your kid’s bedroom can be a fun and challenging project to get them ready to head back to class. It’s important to design your kid’s bedroom in a way that fits into your lifestyle and lets your child’s personality shine through. Giving your kids a space as unique as they are is vital to your child’s growth and development. To help get you inspired, we pulled together three unique kid’s spaces using sturdy yet stylish pieces from Furniture Row.

Kids Bedroom: Bunk Bed Brilliance

If storage and space are at the forefront of your mind, consider bunk beds as an option for your kid’s bedroom. Bunk beds are a popular choice for growing families and an efficient use of space. Adding a bunk bed like the Dove Bunk Bed, will put you in storage heaven. Whether you need space for clothes, toys or other kids’ room essentials, this versatile bed is the perfect choice. Choosing a bunk bed will keep the space from feeling crowded and leaves room for creativity and extra fun.

Kids Bedroom: Twin Bed Haven

If your space allows room for two, try placing two identical twin beds in the same room. Whether you have two children or simply desire a sleepover ready room, this will create a twin bed haven that your kids can’t get enough of. Considering ample storage is crucial when placing two beds side by side: try situating a night stand in between the two beds to reduce clutter. If you’re contemplating clever ideas for keeping toys and clothes out of sight, choose a bed with under storage like the Durango Panel Bed with Storage. If you decide to go with two twin beds that don’t have under-bed storage, consider plush comforters and bed skirts to utilize the space under the bed for additional hidden storage.

Kids Bedroom: Room to Grow

The traditional one bed room doesn’t have to be boring. Style your kids’ room with props, bedding and decor that reflect their personality and passions. With its pearlescent upholstery and crystal details, the Isabella twin bed is the ideal room fit for the feminine princess in your life. For the more traditional and easy-going kid, designing a room with the versatile Dakota bedroom group will stand the test of time.  If a twin bed is slightly too small, a full bed like the Abbott bedroom group or the Huntington upholstered bed are great choices for the transition from childhood in to tween and teen years. Your kids will thank you for their colorful, creative and undeniably cool space to call their own.

Decorating with Timeless Black and White

Decorating with Natural Accents

It’s no secret that bringing natural accents into your home adds a touch of freshness. If you love pops of nature as much as we do, here are some delightful ideas for decorating with natural accents.

natural-accents-FR

SHOP THE LOOK: Teak Bowl | Copia Coffee Table | Driftwood Table Lamp | Succulent, Echeveria and Mini Dracaena in Wood Log | Bali Stool | Flatiron Fern | Paci Console Table | Carson Table Lamp | Shaker Long Bench | Tobian Pitcher | Magnolia Home Wooden Crate

When bringing nature in to your home, contemplate your design style and areas of the home that might be missing that special something. These are the opportune places to add natural accents. Natural accents don’t have to be kept to plants and wood; consider clay, stone work, seashells, and even produce to add pops of color.

If you’re looking to add a conversation piece look no further than the Copia Coffee Table or the Shaker Long Bench. The Shaker Long Bench’s versatility and uniqueness will never fail to capture the attention of your guests. It is composed of reclaimed timbers, and no two are alike. Bring home this noteworthy piece and place it at the edge of your bed or as entryway seating.

If your style is a bit more simplistic, try adding the smaller pieces to breathe life into a room. The Driftwood Table Lamp or Bali Stool are perfect accents that won’t take up too much space. Tuck them next to your favorite reading chair or corner nook and prepare to feel recharged with nature.

If purchasing natural accent furniture is a bit intimidating, adding plants in to the mix will certainly bring the outdoors in. Adding fresh lavender or your favorite bouquet of flowers to the Tobian Pitcher is a simple way to bring nature inside. If you lack in the green thumb department, try a faux plant such as the Flatiron Fern to amplify your space with zero maintenance.

Whichever natural accent you land on, make it yours and have fun!

Dining Room Layout Guide

When arranging your dining space, you should not only think about what is visually pleasing but also the most functional use of the space. Whether your home layout is traditional, open, large or small this guide will help you create a dining space from which you and your family can get the utmost enjoyment.

FR-dining-room-layouts

Open Concept

In the case of newer, modern homes, an open concept kitchen is not all that unusual. Open concepts are designed to provide a practical space for entertaining all the while supplying a cohesive flow between the kitchen, dining and living room. In an open concept home, your dining room layout should flow between the kitchen and the living room serving as an integrated space to gather.  In this dining room layout we have combined a round table joined with six dining chairs just at the edge of the kitchen. The simplicity of a round table between the kitchen and living room allow a practical connection of rooms without sacrificing functionality and space. In addition to your dining table, try adding barstools to your kitchen island to continue the flow of social space. This dining room layout is perfect for work, rest, and play.

Formal

If you desire a sit down meal with the family without interruptions, a formal dining room layout is the arrangement for you. There is just something about the romance of a room devoted to eating and entertaining that we are quite fond of. While in the process of choosing the right furniture for this dining room layout we suggest choosing a table large enough to fit your family and friends. To boost the formal atmosphere, choose a sophisticated table with intricate detailing such as the Laurel Canyon or the Sedona.

Breakfast Nook

If you don’t have the space for a formal dining room, or want something whimsical to sip your morning coffee, a breakfast nook is the perfect dining room layout. Don’t let this fool you, it’s not hard to achieve! Transform your kitchen from drab to fab by simply adding a couple benches to a corner, paired with a small dining table and two or three chairs. Voila you’ve created a cozy corner that will make mornings much easier.

Eat-In Kitchen

Don’t let dinner time be exhausting, allow it to be quality time spent with the family. This dining room layout is the ideal model if you desire to keep prep, dining and cleanup in one convenient area. If you have a large enough kitchen, place your dining table in the center of the room. This allows the table to double as an island during meal preparations. The eat-in kitchen dining room layout creates a central place for family to gather, thus allowing you to catch up in today’s busy lifestyle. This layout might take some creative shifting of your kitchen space, but you won’t regret the benefits it has to offer. Check out our Quintessential Kitchen Storage blog for ideas and inspiration for rearranging and organizing your kitchen space.

With these great dining room layouts, you can update your dining room with confidence. These layouts are a starting point, but we know that not all homes are made the same. Don’t hesitate to make adjustments and customize your dining space to fit your lifestyle. Happy arranging!

Boho Design Comes Home to Furniture Row with Eden Cohen

Bohemian or “boho” design is becoming increasingly popular and is found more and more in home interiors. Fundamental to this eclectic design style is the combining of many different design elements. When it comes to boho design, the rules are – there are no rules! This anything goes approach lets you freely put your own personal touches into your décor.

Boho living room design

SHOP THE LOOK: Henley Swivel Chair | Treviso Coffee Table | Treviso End Table | Treviso Sofa Table | Carson Concrete Table Lamp | Moraine Lake Framed Print | Micro Velvet Pillow | Enid Vase | Agave Plant in Ceramic Planter | Succulent, Echeveria, and Mini Dracaena in Wood Log

Boho design draws upon elements that are found naturally for much of its inspiration. Woods, metals, straw, fire, fur (nowadays most often imitation) and foliage all play a big part in contributing to bohemian interiors.

Colors discovered throughout the natural world also play a role when it comes to boho design. These colors can range from earthy browns, grays and greens, to bright yellows, oranges and reds along with deep blues and purples.

A key element to the featured room design is the color green. It can be found in throw pillows, accessories, and plants. The brilliant green glass chandelier is the focal point adding an unexpected touch of glamor to the rustic furnishings.

The Stratus Sofa is a great fit to incorporate the easygoing boho style into your living room. This plush sofa invites you to sit back and relax. Further adding to the boho appearance of the room is the chocolate Mongolian faux fur throw and pillow. Grounding the room is the Magnolia Home Lotus area rug. Its carefree pattern speaks to the whimsy that is bohemian design.

No matter how you choose to integrate boho in to your home the important thing to remember is to make it an expression of yourself and make it your own!

Interior Designer Michael Amini and Actress Jane Seymour Visit The Showroom @Furniture Row

On November 30, 2017, world-renowned, high-end interior designer, Michael Amini made a guest appearance at The Showroom @Furniture Row to talk about his furniture collaboration with design partner and actress Jane Seymour. This public event was a night of beauty and luxury; the evening began with the opportunity to mingle with Amini and Seymour while guests enjoyed live music by In Tandem accompanied with refreshments and light appetizers followed by an exclusive book signing.

Amini and Seymour graciously signed their books, Michael Amini Grand Tour: A Journey in Furniture Fashions and Seymour’s The Road Ahead, after sharing their stories about entering the interior design world.

Jane Seymour Signs Book

730A9471

For Amini, the fashion world was introduced early on when he modeled as a child for the fashion industry. As he completed his high school education, Amini traveled many different countries that provided him encouragement and inspiration to change his career path and start his own company.

“I started my education in something totally different. Can anybody here tell me what I might have studied in college?” Amini asked the audience.

He quickly shared that he began his studies in electrical engineering—which was surprising to the audience. Amini joked that it didn’t take very long to realize that working at a desk wasn’t for him.

His business humbly began with $7,000. He bought a truck and damaged furniture to fix and resell and many years later it has grown into a one-of-a-kind inspiration within the design community.

Michael Amini + Jane Seymour

Amini and Seymour’s collaborative collection was designed to “sell a lifestyle and bring happiness to [the] home,” which entails very hard work. Amini himself sometimes works 20 hours a day. But both Amini and Seymour emphasized that their passion and willingness to create derives from seeing others’ sharing their own happiness with his designs in their homes.

We are incredibly grateful for the passion and the exquisite style that Amini and Seymour brought to The Showroom @Furniture Row. It was a night filled with glitz and glamour and memories for years to come.

Recipe: Crockpot White Bean Chicken Soup

If you are looking for an easy (and delicious) meal to cook, look no further! This white bean chicken soup recipe is here to save the day! Simply throw all of the ingredients in the crockpot and in a few hours, your tastebuds will be thanking you!

white bean chicken

White Bean Chicken Soup Ingredients

  • 2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 32 oz. chicken broth
  • 1 can of great northern beans
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 shallot, chopped
  • 1 cup diced green chilis
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 TBSP flour

For Garnish

  • Lime
  • Cilantro
  • Sour Cream

White Bean Chicken Soup Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients except for the milk and flour in your crockpot.
  2. Turn your crockpot on low for 4 hours. After the 4 hours has completed, remove your chicken breasts and place on a cutting board.
  3. While you allow the chicken to cool, whisk the milk and flour together and add to your crockpot. At this point, the chicken breast should easily shred. Place back in the crockpot and turn on high for 30 more minutes.
  4. Serve and garnish to your liking.

*To give this recipe some kick, use hot diced green chilis instead of mild and/or add a jalapeno.
